Mead has seen a resurgence in popularity these past few years, and with it websites have sprung up concerning this beverage and how to make it. Here at MeadMakr we want to provide you with the best information available. Sometimes, that means introducing you to another resource. The following are the best meadmaking resources on the web that we have found concerning mead and meadmaking.
The American Mead Makers’ Association – The recently formed AMMA is the go-to place to network if you are a professional meadery. The website is a little dated (Meadist is working on it), but check out their meadmakers page for a comprehensive list of American meaderies, or see their facebook page to follow discussions of topics relevant to us all.
BJCP Mead Exam Resources Page – If you want one place for a great overview of mead resources, check out this link. Steve Piatz’s new book leans heavily on the information available here, and you will be well served to take a look.
Got Mead? – The original meadmakers resource online. Got Mead? has been around since 1996, and Vicky Rowe may be considered a significant reason for the increase in meadmaking knowledge that has been seen in America the last two decades.
Meadist – Meadist hasn’t been blogging that long, but he has infiltrated the mead industry ranks well. Meadist is a big reason why the AMMA Journal looks like a professional publication. He also manages the Honey Wine Herald (sample here) with weekly updates on the latest mead industry news.
Groennfell Meadery Blog – I really like what Groennfell is doing with their blog, and apparently their mead tastes good too. They update weekly on Mondays with a blog, Thursdays with a Fun Fact, and every other Saturday with the Ask the Meadmaker video series. This site is definitely worth a look!
Home Brew Talk Mead Forum – Home Brew Talk in general is mostly geared towards beer. However, the mead specific subforum has some information you might not come across in the other forums. When first starting out, it may be worth it to check here as well as the other locations to improve your learning.
